Mission: Broken Mirror

[PREVIOUSLY]

"Me? Hell no. Dutch, of course. He spent most of his time, once we got the orders to track this thing down, looking over the design blueprints and technical schematics. He didn't have access to them before, but Max pulled a few strings and convinced who he had to in order to give him access." Alex looked up to Pitbull and smirked. "He wasn't allowed to keep anything, for obvious reasons, but this is Dutch we are talking about. And... we know Dutch."

[CONTINUED]

"Dutch probably went over it as long as he could in order to convert it all to memory." Pitbull let out a chuckle. "Good old Dutch and his brain for tech."

"So... I trust Dutch and he gave me a quick rundown of what I needed to do." Alex replied as he focused back on his work. "Let the Pridwen know the shields will be coming down and to start taking the Lost members onboard. Grim, get started on that."

Grim nodded her head as she began to walk to a console. She stopped mid-way and turned around. "Try not to kill us before then. I'm pretty sure my symbiont won’t make it to its next lifetime if we explode."

"Helping or Hurting, Jazra? Choose your side." Alex replied without looking up from his work.

Grim continued to walk to the console and began to go to work. At the same time, Pitbull was opening a com to the Pridwen to inform them of the plan. The timing had to be precise. If the Lost figured out what they were doing, they could find a way to prevent them from getting transported, which would also prevent Alex and his team from being transported off. In order for them to pull it off they needed to get it done quickly and not give the Lost any time to respond. They needed to catch them off guard. Hopefully, with the attacks coming from the outside the ship, it was enough to keep them busy.

Alex worked quickly, but carefully, with the device. He remembered what Dutch showed him, but at the same time, he was cautious about touching anything that wasn't related to what he was trying to do. A device like this was technical and complicated. Designed by people much smarter than him. Maybe Grim was right and he should have brought Dutch along to do this. At the very least, maybe he shouldn't have come at all and left this to Pitbull to lead, but then that would feel like Alex was trying to take the weight of this decision off himself. He wasn't about to let that happen. It was his call and he was the one who had to carry the burden of this decision. The most he could hope for was that the others wouldn't get caught in the aftermath of his choice. Even more so, that Alora understood why he had to do it. Too many risks. Too many variables to consider.

"Shield's down!" Grim shouted as she walked away from the console and back to the device. "We're still alive. That's a good sign. How's it going?"

"Almost done." Alex said as he made the last connection inside the device. A slight click was heard, which was soon followed by a hum. "Got it." He said as he pulled his arm out, as the hum of the device began to increase. "That should by us some time." He gave them a smile before focusing back on the machine. The hum began to increase again, this time a bit faster. "Or... maybe not enough time."

Pitbull's eyes widened slightly. "What the hell did you do?!"

"I did exactly what Dutch showed me to do." Alex countered as he took a step away from the machine.

"And what exactly did he tell you to do?!"

"I... pull the thing... and pulled another thing... then connected one thing to the other thing." Alex said with some hesitation. "Look... Dutch used more technical words and spoke quickly... so I may have missed a step or two while trying to keep my eyes from glazing over."

Grim let out a frustrated groan before shouting. "You seriously should have brought Dutch along to do all the technical stuff because clearly that's not your area of expertise!"

"Hey... I got it to work!" Alex countered as he gestured to the device. "It's just seems to be happening a lot faster than I thought it would happen."

Pitbull rolled his eyes and tapped his combadge. =^="Pridwen... this is Pitbull. We could use a transport a lot sooner than we anticipated."=^=

=^="Affirmative, Pitbull. Please stand by."=^= The Pridwen Ops Officer replied. =^="Some of the Lost Crew have raised force fields around the bridge and are working to keep us from pulling them off. We're trying to work around it. They still have navigation control and weapon's control."=^=

Alex looked over to Grim. "See if there is anything you can do?" He said as the humming from the device began to increase and bit more.

Grim ran over to the Op's console she setup and began to tap at the controls. After trying a few things, she slammed the console. "Dammit! They locked me out." She said as she returned to the group. "I tried to pull power from the weapons and they stopped me."

"Great." Pitbull replied.

"And... it gets worse." She continued. "I also noticed they were working on getting power back to the shields. In a few minutes, they'll have shields back and the Pridwen might not be able to pull us out."

Alex looked at Grim, then to Pitbull, back to the device. He placed his hands on it and closed his eyes. This was obviously not going to plan, but things hardly ever did. Usually, they had to make some quick adjustments, accomplishing what they wanted with a few compromises. However, this was different. He had his whole team to fall back on. His family. This time, it was just the three of them. Still, he wasn't about to let this happen to his team. He couldn't save everyone from getting caught in the explosion, so there was only one thing left to do.

=^="Knight to Pridwen..."=^= Alex said after tapping his combadge. =^="If you can't get the rest of the Lost off this ship then grab us, now. They're working on getting their shields back up and you might miss your only window to do so. Pull us out of here and pull back."=^=

=^="Alex?"=^= The voice of the Pridwen Captain came over the com channel. =^="What's the status of the device? Can we transport it onboard?"=^=

=^="Device is taken care of, Sir. We need emergency transport, Now!"=^= Alex shouted back.

=^="Their shields are coming back up, Captain. They're making a break for it!"=^= Shouted another voice from the Pridwen.

=^="Knight! Hold on, we'll get you out of there!"=^= The Captain shouted back before adding. =^="Target their Shields! Ops, maintain a lock as best you can! Helm, keep on that ships tail!"=^= The commlink soon cut off.

"Pridwen?!" Alex said as he tapped the combadge again, this time getting an error tone. "That's it. Shields are up." He said, right before the ship began to shake. "And their firing at us!"

"Great!" Grim shouted as she grabbed onto something. "One good shot and this ship goes up sooner. At least, if this thing goes off, we'll be VAPORIZED! SO, WE WON'T... FEEL... ANYTHING!"

The Pridwen continued to fire on the third ship, which didn't have the same shielding as the other two. The third ship turned to run, but it didn't get far enough away before the Sovereign-class ship destroyed it.

The explosion from the third ship was a lot bigger than expected, which forced The Captain of the Pridwen to quickly ordered for everyone to brace as the ship flew into the debris of the ship. Their shields held firm as they the remains of the ship brushed off sections of the shields and pulled away into the vacuum of space. As the Sovereign Class adjusted its course and began a banking maneuver to rejoin the Calypso, there was a silence on the bridge as they waited for the transporter room to signal they managed to grab their three officers before the ship was destroyed.

====[On The Calypso]====

"Focus all firepower on the second ship," Sam ordered. "Launch torpedoes."

The second ship blew up in a silent explosion as the shields failed and the warp core was hit.

"The moment shields fail on the first ship, beam off the crew of the remaining ship," Sam ordered. She didn't know what the Knights or their friend wanted, but she had questions. "And keep an eye on the team on the third ship."

Just as the shields failed and the ship was hit again, Vincent beamed the mercenary crew to the Calypso, where they were met by security. Now Sam focused on the team she knew was still on the third ship.

Vincent watched intently, his fingers poised just in case, but to his glee and delight, the other whomever they were on the last ship got beamed to the Pridwen.

"Commodore, they have been recovered!" Vincent exclaimed with excitement. "Transporter records show they have all of their fingers and toes and everything where they are supposed to be. They made it safely to their ship!"

"Excellent," Sam replied, relieved that Alex and his team were safe. "Damion, make sure there are no other hostile ships in the area."

Damion nodded his head and began scanning the area of space they were in. Aside from the Pridwen, it was all clear. Then again, besides helping them out with this problem, he had no way of knowing whether this ship was truly on their side. Something about the Captain. His voice. It wasn't sitting well with him. Even though they had handled the threat, Damion still felt there was one more out there to be cautious of.

Sam nodded. "All stations, stand down. Cancel red alert and hold position." Now, to pass off the prisoners--and have a talk with that captain.
