Returning the Prisoners - Part I

Posted on Tue Dec 30th, 2025 @ 5:56am by Commodore Samantha York & Lieutenant Commander Damion Wolfe & Captain Thayne 'Blackbeard' Kilgore

1,280 words; about a 6 minute read

Mission: Broken Mirror
Location: Calypso & Pridwen

"York to Pridwen. We have prisoners to deliver to you. Would you like us to transport over with them?"

"Calypso, this is the first officer, Karrion Hart. You are welcomed to accompany the prisoners on board. The Captain also requests a meeting with you in his ready room." Karrion said firmly before adding. "He's aware that time may not be in your favor, so if you deny his request. He understands and won't hold it against you. You and your crew must be eager to return to your Universe."

"We have the time. I would like to thank your captain for his help," Sam replied. My chief of security and I will beam over shortly. York out."

Sam turned to Damion. "How soon can you be ready?"

"Give me a few minutes." Damion said firmly before pausing a bit. "Commodore..." He said before shifting his tone to a concerned one. "Sam, how do we know we can trust these people? Just because Knight and his group say so? We don't know much about them. Max hasn't got back to me with my own concerns. The only person I trust is Commander Knight, the woman, because she's not from this topsy-turvy Universe. She's one of us. How do we know, you going over there, isn't some trap? When is the last time you've see a group of alleged rebels having a ship like that?"

"We can't know. All we can do is trust the Knights. Both of them. Admiral Hunter trusts them as well," Sam said. But she, too, had her misgivings. Not about the Knights, but there was something about that voice...

Damion let out a sigh before walking off to ensure the safe transport of the prisoners. "And I thought the Intelligence Gnome was the only one to worry about on this ship." He said softly as he left.

Sam chuckled as he walked off.

After an hour or so of coming up with a gameplan, Damion had got together a team of security officers to ensure the escort of the prisoners to the cargo bay, where there was a larger transporter pad they could utilize to ensure the groups transport in one shot. The Starfleet team would remain with the prisoners until their transport, where the Pridwen Security would take over immediately after the prisoners appeared on their side.

Damion, however, would be transporting onboard the Pridwen from Transporter Room 3. The transport was to be simultaneous with that of the prisoners, to make sure they arrived at the same time. He would be escorting Sam the whole way. From the Calypso, to the Pridwen, ending back on the Calypso again. He wasn't going to leave her side regardless of what happened. With a phaser on his hip, knife in his boot, and collapsible sword tucked under his uniform top, he was going to ensure their return.

As he stepped through the transporter room doors, he walked over to the officer at the console, excusing him from the controls temporarily. He took a moment to go over the controls, double checking their arrival location and that there was nothing to interfere with the transporter lock, making sure they had a means of beaming out in case of emergency. After nodding back to the officer, he made his way to the transporter pad.

"I admit that I'm looking forward to turning over the prisoners and going back to our own universe," Sam said quietly. "I just hope this will be enough to stop the piracy."

Damion crossed his arms over his chest and let out a relieved sigh. "Well... without that device, these Lost mercenaries won't be able to come to our Universe. I am not sure what to think of Knight's move to destroy the ship. Weren't our orders to retrieve it?"

"Now that the resistance on this side is involved, we need to tread more carefully. However, we still have the data from their ship to sift through. Commander Knight wanted the device as it may have been stolen from the person who designed his. All I want now is to find out if anyone from our universe is involved and if so, who. I'm hoping we can leave them to deal with the rest."

Damion nodded his head before replying. "If I remember correctly, Commander Knight made a play for the data. Starfleet Covert Intelligence protocol is to contain any data that regard Intelligence projects. The device has to fall under that category if Max was involved. I can hold them off as much as I can, come up with reasons to keep it so we can go through it for any leads as to whether or not someone on our side is involved, but I won't be able to hold them back for long. Intelligence technically have a say since this was their mission." He put his hands behind his back before adding softly. "I am sure you can use one of your many favors with Burke to handle that if things get messy."

One corner of Sam's mouth quirked up in a smile. "I intend to give the data to Commander Knight, but I will keep a copy to go over here. Both admirals know I don't share secrets, but I have been tasked with finding out about the mercenaries. The data on their means of travel belongs to intel, and they have the device, but they will not get everything."

Damion smiled slightly before replying. "Max won't like that you have a copy. Especially if he hasn't had a chance to have his specialist go over it and redact anything not relevant to the investigation."

"Probably not, but I don't plan on telling him. Or Lieutenant Batiste."

"I have to." Damion replied, looking over to Sam for a moment, before looking away again. "I was in his department, for a time, so I am expected to know protocol and keep it in mind when things like this come up. I might be Security, but I started off in Intelligence and Max was my lead for a long time. He has my loyalty, just like you do." He shrugged slightly before adding. "However, since we aren't in our Universe, I can't get a hold of him until we get back. Anything that happens until then is out of my control."

"Understood." And she did. they were both alone here and would simply do the best they could.

The Transporter Officer looked up from their console. "The Cargo bay team report they are ready to transport and the Pridwen is ready to receive, Commodore."

"Very good. Transport us over," she replied.

After a few seconds of adjusting, the two were transported into the Transporter Room of the Pridwen, greeted by tall muscular man in civilian clothes. "Greetings, Commodore. Commander." He said firmly. From his voice he was clearly the first officer Karrion Hart. "Welcome aboard the Pridwen."

Before he could say another word, the combadge on his chest chirped, pulling him away from the conversation. "Hart, this is Cole. Prisoners are aboard. My team is taking control and we're headed to the Brig."

The man tapped the combadge and replied. "Got it, Marcus. Let me know before you start interrogating them. I want to be there." Hart replied before tapping the combadge again and looking over to the two Starfleet Officers. "Well... Now that that is taken care of, shall we proceed?"
